Geographical data
   The area is located in the south of Ukraine in Prichernomorskaja lowland, in a steppe zone, on the bottom current of Dnipro river. It is washed by the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, and also by Sivash Lake (the Rotten sea) and Kakhovsky water basin. In territory of area there are 19 rivers. The greatest rivers: Dnipro is 178 km length and Inhulets is 180 km length.
   The climate is moderate continental, droughty. The average temperature:in summer +22,4°С, in winter-2,1°С. The maximal summer temperature +40°С, winter -31,5°С. Duration of frost-free period on average 179 days for a year. AnnUAHl average qUAHntity of precipitation is from 300 up to 420 mm. The vegetative period lasts 200 days. In the north the Kherson region lands are represented by southern chernozems with wood bottom soil. In the south they replaced by dark-chestnut and chestnut soils, alternating with alkali soils. For seaside zone, the Black and Azov Seas, characteristic alkali soils and saline soils.

Borders
   Kherson region borders on the east - upon Zaporizhya, on the northern west - Mykolayiv, on the north - Dnipropetrovs'k regions, on the south upon the Autonomous Republic Crimea. Extension of the frontier on the territory of Khersonshchyna is 458 km, including 350 km on Black Sea and 108 km on the Azov Sea. There are 4 check points: avia, river port, ports of Kherson and Skadovs'k.

Administrative and territorial units
  There are 18 administrative districts : Beryslavs'ky, Bilozers'ky, Velykolepetyns'ky, Velykooleksandrivs'ky, Verkhnyorohachyts'ky,Vysokopils'ky, Henichens'ky, Holoprystans'ky, Hornostajivs'ky, Ivanivs'ky, Kalanchats'ky, Kakhovs'ky, Nyzhnyosirohoz'ky, Novovorontsovs'ky, Novotrojits'ky, Skadovs'ky, Tsyurupyns'ky, Chaplyns'ky.
  There are 9 cities in the region, 3 of them are of regional value (Kherson, Nova Kakhovka and Kakhovka), and 6 of them, are of regional submission (Beryslav, Henichesk, Hola Prystan, Skadovsk, Tavryisk, Tsyurupynsk), 30 urban villages, 657 rural settlements which are incorporated in 259 rural councils.

     The middle size of nominal wages of the staff member
   was 1329 UAH in February 2009, that 2,2 times as much the minimum wage (605 UAH) and 2 times as much the minimum subsistence level for able-bodied citizen (669 UAH).
   The average monthly nominal wages of the staff member for January-Fabruary 2009, comparatively with the proper period of previous year were multiplied on 10,9% and made 1298 UAH
   For January-February, 2009 the real wage of the hired workers in relation to the proper period of the previous year diminished on 9,7%.
   The aggregate sum of arrears of wages on March, 1 in 2009 made 28,3 mln UAH, that on 37%, or on 7,7 mln UAH more than on beginning of the year.

   On the April the 1st, 2007 register numbers 29252 subjects of economy, from them 27345, or 93,5 % - are of juridical entity.
   Private enterprises (27,6%), limited companies (16,9%), farms (11,3%) are the most widespread enterprises with organizational and legal methods of management.
   By the types of economic activity the structure of enterprises is relatively stable. More than a half of them specialize in wholesale and retail trade, agriculture, industry and building.

   For January-March 2007, 355 subjects of economic activities which makes 1,3 % from total were created. During the same period have been liquidated 114 (0,5 %) subjects. Quantity of created enterprises for January-March of 2007 in comparison with similar period in the past year has reduced on 330 (51,8 %) subjects. A Lot of the enterprises were created in the cities of Khersons, New Kakhovka and Kakhovs'ky region (74,9 % from total of new formed subjects)
